Cyber Intelligence Analyst Internship
A 16-week unpaid and remote program designed to immerse students in the fields of cyber intelligence, open-source intelligence collection & analysis, and high-technology computer forensics.
Program Overview
Participants are classified as independent contractors occupying the position of a Cyber Intelligence Analyst Intern and will work in CDIC's Cyber Tactical Operations Command alongside multiple cyber analysts on various cyber-crime investigations, national security issues, advanced cyber research, and international cyber operations.
CDIC is partnered with and provides actionable intelligence support to multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement entities as well as the United States Intelligence Community and U.S. military.
Students will have the opportunity to assist CDIC's cyber analysts in these joint-agency operations and have the chance to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

Intern Responsibilities
As a Cyber Intelligence Analyst Intern, you will perform the following duties:
Technical Investigation
Gather data about online activities, physical and cyber terrorism insights, and information concerning individuals involved in severe criminal behavior facilitated by the internet or any computer device or system.
Insight Analysis
Deliver advantageous, meaningful, and actionable intel regarding cybercriminals, terrorists, and their prospective undertakings according to what's openly known about them.
Information Reporting
Produce Intelligence Bundles and reports that disseminate the results of open-source intelligence (OSINT) gathering and analysis to key stakeholders responsible for lawfully protecting lives and property.
Incident Response
Cooperate with CDIC's Cyber Operations Coordinators on inter-agency, Red Cell cyber operations related to various national security issues and occurrences.
16-Week Program Schedule
A structured progression from orientation to live operations
Orientation and Setup
Introduction to CDIC, team introductions, system access setup, and overview of tools and platforms.
Training and Acclimation
Comprehensive training on OSINT methodologies, intelligence analysis techniques, and CDIC operational procedures.
Initial Research Assignment
First hands-on research assignment under mentor guidance, applying learned techniques to real scenarios.
Second Research Assignment
Advanced research assignment with increased complexity and reduced supervision.
Live Operations with Analyst Mentoring
Participate in live cyber operations alongside experienced analysts, contributing to real investigations.
Live Operations in Teams
Full integration into operational teams, working independently on live cyber intelligence operations.
Eligibility Requirements
All students studying IT, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Criminal Justice, and other related fields are eligible and considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- • Completion of basic cyber-related courses
- • At least 1 year of experience in the cyber field
